Fall Seminar: Policy Adoption and the Legislative Process

Join us for the third presentation in our Fall Seminar series on Friday, October 30, 2015  from 1:00 – 3:00p ET to learn more about policy adoption and the legislative process, including central features of policy making in Kentucky. Join us at the UK Coldstream Research Campus Human Development Training Room (1525 Bull Lea Road, Lexington KY 40511) with live videoconferencing to sites around the state. This seminar will cover opportunities for advocacy organizations to pursue their agendas and barriers they have to overcome to achieve their policy goals. The Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities provides examples of agenda setting and advocacy.

HDI Awarded Grant to Promote Diversity and Provide Three Scholarships for Graduate Certificates in Developmental Disabilities

We’re very excited to share that HDI has received a National Training Initiatives (NTI) grant from the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) to provide three professionals from Appalachia with full scholarships to our online graduate certificate in developmental disabilities! The scholarships will cover tuition, travel and books required for the program, and these students will also agree to serve on HDI’s Underserved Populations Engagement Committee to help us further benefit more diverse populations.
